Getting Started
What is SkyLike?
SkyLike turns your likes into real micro-donations. Every time you like a post in your social feed, a small amount of money is automatically sent to the creator. You set a monthly spending limit and price per like, and just use your social apps normally.
Do I need a separate account?
No. You log in with your existing account. There are no extra passwords or accounts to manage.
Is SkyLike free to use?
Donors pay what they like. Creators get this at the start of every month, minus 7% to SkyLike and payment fees to Stripe.
What social protocols and platforms does SkyLike support?
We currently support ATprotocol (Bluesky), ActivityPub (Mastodon) and Nostr. We plan to add more in the future based on user demand.
Can I donate to an account on Threads (by Meta)?
Not currently. While Threads supports ActivityPub federation for sharing posts, it doesn’t expose the API endpoints we need to track likes. We support Mastodon and other ActivityPub servers that provide a full Mastodon-compatible API. If Threads opens up further, we’d love to add support.
Earning as a Creator
How do I start receiving donations?
Log in with your Bluesky, Mastodon, or Nostr account and register as a creator. You’ll need to complete identity verification (KYC) and add your bank details so we can send payouts.
When do I get paid?
Payouts happen on the 1st of each month. All donations from the previous month are tallied up, fees are deducted, and the balance is sent to your bank account.
Is there a minimum payout?
You set your own payout threshold. If you have earned less than the threshold, we check again next month. Some Stripe fees are per payout, so it makes sense to not pay out very small amounts.
What are the fees?
SkyLike's fee is 7% of the donated amount. Stripe charges card processing fees (3.25% of the donated amount + ~$0.2 per donor per month), a 0.25% routing fee on transfers, a monthly active account fee (~$1.30), and a 0.25% + ~$0.45 payout fee when funds reach your bank. Your creator dashboard has the breakdown.
Donating
Is there a minimum donation amount?
No, but if you have donated less than ~$1 in a given month, we will wait until the next month before we process your donation (otherwise Stripe payment fees eat up too much of the donation).
How much does each like cost?
You decide. You can set your price per like to any amount starting from $0.01. The cost comes from your monthly spending limit. Change it anytime from your dashboard settings.
What happens when I reach my spending limit?
When your monthly spending reaches your limit, likes stop generating donations for the rest of the month. You can increase your limit at any time from your dashboard settings.
Can I choose who receives my donations?
Yes. You can donate to every post you like, only people you follow, or build a custom list of creators. You control exactly who benefits from your likes.
Can I donate different amounts to different people?
Not currently, but this is on our todo-list.
What happens if I like a repost or boost?
On Bluesky and Mastodon, the donation always goes to the original author, not the person who reposted or boosted it. On Nostr, it depends on your client — most clients credit the original author, but this is determined by your app, not by SkyLike.
What if I like a post from someone who isn’t registered on SkyLike?
The donation is still recorded, and the creator gets notified. If the creator registers on SkyLike before the 1st of the following month, they’ll be able to claim it. If not, the donation expires and you will not be charged for it.
When am I charged?
Your card is charged on the 1st of each month for the previous month’s likes.
Privacy & Security
Can other people see how much I donate?
No. Your donation activity is private. Creators can see who supports them, but the amounts and your overall activity are not visible to anyone else.
How are payments processed?
All payments are handled through Stripe, a regulated global payment provider. Your financial information is never stored on our servers.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. You can delete your account from your dashboard settings. This will remove all your data from our system, including your donation history and creator profile. This action is irreversible.
